Governor of Nevada signs Compact Law

On June 10, 2025, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo signed AB163, making Nevada a Compact Member State. The law takes effect January 1, 2026. Nevada will join the other 38 member jurisdictions to allow Licensed Professional Counselors the ability to seek the privilege to practice in the other Compact Member States.

The Compact also strengthens public protection through standardized licensure requirements, shared disciplinary data, and clear processes for cross-state practice.

Nevada’s inclusion in the Compact takes a major step forward in ensuring that qualified counselors can move more freely to meet client needs—whether in-person or through telehealth—across state boundaries.

The Counseling Compact Commission will continue working with Nevada’s licensing board to implement systems for granting practice privileges, with operations expected to begin later this year.
